Morshed Law, PLLC is seeking a full-time Criminal Defense Associate Attorney to join our growing Lexington practice.This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney who enjoys being in the courtroom and wants meaningful responsibility over their own cases. You will join an established firm with an existing client base, experienced support staff, modern case-management systems, and a growing criminal-defense practice.
What You'll Do:
The associate will assume primary responsibility for a criminal caseload, including:
- DUI cases
- Misdemeanor and felony cases
- Traffic and license-related matters
- Arraignments, pretrial conferences and other court appearances
- Reviewing discovery, body-camera footage and evidence
- Negotiating with prosecutors
- Advising and communicating with clients
- Legal research and motion practice
- Developing case strategy
- Evidentiary hearings and trials as appropriate
- Managing cases from assignment through final disposition
Who We're Looking for:
The ideal candidate has 1–3+ years of criminal law or substantial courtroom experience.
Experience as a public defender, prosecutor, criminal-defense attorney, or other courtroom attorney is strongly preferred.
Candidates should be:
- Licensed and in good standing to practice law in Kentucky
- Comfortable appearing in court independently
- Professional and confident when communicating with clients
- Organized and capable of managing multiple cases and deadlines
- Able to exercise sound judgment and take ownership of assigned matters
- Interested in developing strong criminal defense and trial skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced but supportive environment
- Collaborative, dependable and easy to work with
Compensation & Benefits:
Salary: $70,000–$85,000 per year depending on criminal law and courtroom experience.

You won't spend your first year sitting behind a desk waiting for someone to let you practice law. You will have the opportunity to be in court, work directly with clients, develop case strategy, negotiate cases and build meaningful criminal-defense experience.
At the same time, you won't be expected to build a practice from scratch. The firm provides the clients, staff, technology, systems and administrative support necessary for you to focus on practicing law.
This position is particularly well suited for an attorney currently working in a public defender's office, prosecutor's office, or criminal practice who enjoys courtroom work and is interested in the opportunities and growth potential of private practice.
