Position Summary...Join the Bentonville-based, An American Multinational Retail Corporation International legal team as Counsel. This is a generalist role with an emphasis on commercial contract work, supporting both the Senior Counsel and the Senior Lead Counsel, International.
The international legal team is based in Bentonville as part of An American Multinational Retail Corporation's International segment. This legal team advises the business reporting into An American Multinational Retail Corporation's International CEO, supports the market legal teams across a variety of workstreams; and oversees the governance and mitigation of material risks for the international portfolio.
This Counsel role is responsible to address a variety of work, including supporting the more senior attorneys so to permit the business to move with speed. The Counsel primarily supports the business' commercial contracting needs, reviewing statements of work under master services agreements, evaluation agreements, and other contracts. The Counsel role may also advise on discrete business initiatives and create monthly reports on changes to risk or exposure across an inventory of material market level litigation for the assessment by more senior attorneys on the team

- Advise on contracts and agreements, negotiate with vendors and develop a strong understanding of An American Multinational Retail Corporation's contract templates and risk tolerance;
- Coordinate with the appropriate subject matter experts across data privacy, data security, intellectual property, antitrust, insurance, etc. to ensure commercial contracts are robust to protect An American Multinational Retail Corporation;
- Support the Senior Counsel and other attorneys in the team;
- Advise on business initiatives;
- Coordinate and manage corporate governance for the international segment;
- Develop best practices and procedures that will drive consistency and efficiency
- Possess a law degree from an accredited law school and 5 years' experience practicing law

- You have subject matter knowledge in IP and/or privacy laws

- You have strong communication skills to report updates and distill complex situations into clear summaries
- You use new technologies to create efficiencies and are GenAI savvy.
- You have experience working in cross-functional teams
- A huge plus if you are multi-lingual, particularly with abilities in Mandarin, Simplified Chinese or Spanish.
- A license to practice law in at least one state
