The Corporate Counsel is a legal generalist responsible for supporting a broad range of corporate, transactional, regulatory, and compliance matters across the organization. The Corporate Counsel works closely with business stakeholders and other members of the Legal team to provide practical, business-oriented legal advice in support of CableLabs' operations and strategic initiatives, including work on technology-related matters and licensing agreements that are handled collaboratively across the Legal team.

In this role, the Corporate Counsel will report to the Chief Legal Officer and work closely with members of the Legal, Intellectual Property, and Technology Policy team to support legal matters across CableLabs. The position offers exposure to a wide variety of legal issues, including technology, commercial contracting, governance, and regulatory compliance matters, while providing the opportunity to develop deep familiarity with CableLabs' mission, business, and innovation ecosystem. What You'll Do:
Corporate & Commercial Legal Support
  • Draft, review, advise on, and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including technology, software, vendor, consulting, global relationship, and services agreements.
  • Support business stakeholders across Technology, Vendor Relations, Shared Services (including IT, Facilities, Marketing & Communications, and Human Resources), and other functional areas on contractual, commercial, and communications matters.
  • Support legal matters related to Company-hosted events, programs, and initiatives.
  • Assist with strategic initiatives and complex commercial matters, including commercial diligence, contract structuring, and implementation activities.

Regulatory, Compliance, & Confidentiality

  • Assist with legal support related to regulatory and compliance requirements and trends, including export compliance, data privacy, and other applicable legal and regulatory regimes, in partnership with internal legal and compliance stakeholders.
  • Help develop, maintain, and apply procedures to protect confidential and proprietary information, including drafting, reviewing, advising on, and negotiating confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements.
  • Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of privacy, security, record retention, and other policies and help drive awareness through training and guidelines that support business, legal, and operational needs.
  • Provide legal support on people-related and operational matters, including employment-related documents and policies, as requested.

Governance, Standards, & Antitrust Support

  • Support corporate governance and regulated industry collaboration, including work with boards, committees, and advisory groups, as requested.
  • Assist with standards-related activities, certifications, and industry initiatives, in coordination with senior legal leadership.
  • Provide antitrust-related legal support in connection with standards development, working groups, interoperability, certification activities, and participation in industry associations.

Litigation & Risk Management

  • Assist with the management of, document production for, and internal interviews of subject matter experts for litigation matters, claims, and disputes, in coordination with senior legal leadership and external counsel, as requested.
  • Identify legal and business risks associated with commercial and operational activities and provide practical guidance to help mitigate those risks.

Process Improvement & Legal Operations

  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of legal templates, playbooks, guidelines, and training materials to support efficient and consistent legal services.
  • Support and coordinate with outside counsel on discrete matters, as requested.
  • Collaborate with other Legal team members to identify opportunities to improve legal processes, tools, and service delivery.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
What Is a Must Have

Required Skills:
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to explain complex legal issues in a clear and practical manner.
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and analytical skills, with sound legal judgment.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative working style and willingness to support a wide range of legal matters across the organization.
  • High degree of professionalism, integrity, and attention to detail.

Required Experience:
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an ABA-accredited law school.
  • Member in good standing of at least one U.S. State Bar.
  • 5+ years of relevant legal experience, including prior law firm experience.
  • Experience advising on commercial and corporate legal matters.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with business clients and cross-functional teams.

Compensation: The salary range is $154,700 – $185,000. This position is eligible for bonus incentive compensation up to 20% of base salary.
