Role Summary:
As Counsel – Real Estate you will play an integral role in supporting the acquisition and development of land and leasing of facilities for Rowan's rapidly growing portfolio of hyperscale data center projects. The successful candidate will have deep experience with complex land (both undeveloped and developed) transactions and developments at all stages including origination, development, and leasing. This role will assist with advising and handling contract negotiations, reviewing and curing title defects, land use and entitlements, environmental permitting, and leasing. In this role, you will partner with leaders across the Rowan business during the site selection, development, leasing and financing phases of a project. To succeed, candidates need to not only be strong legal advisors, but also have the ability to engage in business strategy with internal partners.

Travel: Ability to travel up to 20% to meet with landowners, customers and for company gatherings

Location: Denver, CO (hybrid in-office role) strongly preferred (Remote may be considered for an exceptional candidate)

Compensation: $150,000 - $175,000 (Offers Bonus)

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Structure, draft and negotiate term sheets and purchase and sale agreements and related documents
  • Lead closings
  • Structure, draft and negotiate agreements relating to real estate development
  • Provide counsel on entitlements, land use issues, permits and development issues
  • Assist with drafting and negotiating customer leases
  • Identify and resolve business and legal risks
  • Exercise independent judgment on legal matters to counsel business partners and management
  • Serve as a partner to teams across Rowan to develop strong project de-risking and execution strategies

Education, Skills, and Experience
  • JD from an accredited U.S. law school
  • 5+ years' of experience with complex real estate and development transactions, data center experience is a plus
  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills
  • Ability to manage outside counsel and oversee multiple high-priority projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge or experience in joint ventures, environmental law, real estate finance or project finance is a plus
  • Experience managing multiple high priority projects simultaneously both independently and as part of a cross-functional team
  • Comfortable making decisions in situations with ambiguity
