- Review, analyze, evaluate, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts, including master services agreements, purchase orders, confidentiality agreements, and vendor agreements.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to the business by providing practical legal advice and counseling on key legal risks associated with commercial contracts in the construction industry.
- Clearly communicate and recommend changes to key contractual terms with branch offices and third parties, including A Construction & Civil Engineering Company customers.
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures, including the Delegation of Authority.
- Advise on legal issues related to A Construction & Civil Engineering Company operations, including by effectively assessing, balancing and communicating to business stakeholders and Assistant General Counsel the risks and benefits associated with the multiple and sometimes competing objectives related to A Construction & Civil Engineering Company commercial contracts.
- Develop legal solutions while effectively managing practical business considerations.
- Work collaboratively as a member of the Contracts Team and with internal clients to develop strategies to address and resolve identified contractual issues.
- Build rapport with internal clients and stakeholders to deliver exceptional service.
- Understand legal and client business goals and how they impact the company's commercial operations.
- Assist with implementing and managing contract management/legal matter management systems.
- Collect, analyze and summarize contract information and trends.
- Train additional Contracts Team members as the team grows.
- Partner with other Assistant General Counsel and internal stakeholders on enterprise-wide initiatives, including ESG initiatives and Enterprise Risk Management.
Qualifications:
- Preferred experience in reviewing, drafting, analyzing and/or negotiating construction contracts.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- High degree of cultural and emotional intelligence.
- Demonstrated aptitude for resilience, flexibility and ability to adapt to changing circumstances and dynamics in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work remotely with strong interpersonal and collaboration skills as a team member with colleagues in other functions and geographic locations.
- Respectful and professional communication style with team members, internal clients, customers and vendors.
- Operate with a high level of discretion, integrity and confidentiality.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment and under tight time constraints and deadlines.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Acrobat, Outlook, and Excel.
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university, top of class preferred.
- Juris Doctor from a nationally accredited law school.
- Preferred 1-2 years of experience as a practicing attorney.
- Good standing with any State Bar, including being current on individual CLE requirements.
