An American Business and Litigation Law Firm is seeking a mid to senior level litigation attorney forengagement through the firm's flexible and alternative-track attorney program,DWTSurge. This position is a hybrid role. Some of the work may be performedremotely, but the position may also require some onsite work at one of An American Business and Litigation Law Firm's California offices and appearing in California state court orarbitration as needed. This position will support the Firm's litigationpractice group and will be dedicated to supporting complaints and collection cases for a valued An American Business and Litigation Law Firm client under the supervision of partners. California baradmission and prior experience litigating in CA state court is required.

Attorneyswith prior experience from medium/large litigation firms, who are seeking hoursthat are more flexible, are encouraged to apply. In addition to flexibility,candidates can expect to work closely with An American Business and Litigation Law Firm partners as part of acollaborative team, providing high-value and interesting legal services on anongoing basis to one or more clients.

Thiscontract position will be part-time during the initial training and ramp upperiod. We anticipate an increase inhours to full-time hours once the schedule ramps up as new lawsuit are filed,however hours may fluctuate from week to week. We anticipate 25 hoursinitially, and up to but no more than 40 hours/week during peak times. Whilethe engagement is for an initial 6-month contract term, there is potential torenew the contract position on an ongoing basis for successful candidates.

Theideal candidate will have:
  • 7-12years of commercial litigation experience in a large law firm setting
  • Experience handling unfair competition claimsunder California's BPC 17200 statute
  • Bar admission and physical presence inCA, with the ability to work on-site in the Firm's offices as needed
  • Availability to work an average of 25hours per week, with flexibility to increase hours to no more than 40 hours perweek or accommodate other fluctuations in workflow
  • Experience with Zoom and other businessconference platforms
  • Experience handling a high volumeof cases, including drafting, court appearances, some depositions, andwitness preparation
  • Ability to quickly grasp and retain therelevant facts of multiple cases
  • Strong discovery and negotiation skills
  • Excellent writing skills, detail oriented,and the ability to produce high-quality work with minimal supervision anddirection
  • Confidence in managing timelines andcommunicating effectively with clients and other stakeholders while ondeadlines.
  • Comfort in learning or working withinclient accounting systems as needed to substantiate claims
  • Demonstrated success working efficientlyon the day to day requirements of high volume legal matters with similar factpatterns, as well as managing a high-volume of cases with a strategic andtactical perspective.
