The Role:
We are seeking a California-licensed attorney for a full-time, contract-based litigation position in our El Segundo office. This is an hourly, temporary engagement rather than a permanent associate position. There may be an opportunity to transition to a permanent role based on performance and the firm's needs, but a permanent offer is not guaranteed.
The attorney will draft pleadings and motions, handle discovery, prepare for and take or defend depositions, communicate with clients, appear at hearings, and participate in trial preparation and trial. The position has a target of 150 billable hours per month.
Qualifications:
- Active membership in good standing with the State Bar of California
- One to three years of civil litigation experience
- Strong legal research, writing, and motion practice skills
- Experience managing discovery and preparing for depositions; experience taking or defending depositions is preferred
- Familiarity with California state and federal court procedures
- Strong judgment, organization, and ability to take ownership of assignments while collaborating with a team
- Experience in complex commercial litigation, professional responsibility, employment law, or personal injury is a plus
