Role Description
SHANLEY, APC is seeking a talented and dedicated lateral Attorney with at least two years of legal practice for a full-time position in Sacramento, CA. This position offers an exciting opportunity to advocate for workers' rights, navigate complex legal issues in diverse areas of law not limited to labor and employment, provide strategic legal counsel to labor unions and their affiliated entities, and assume a pivotal role in all facets of litigation.

The Attorney will be responsible for representing labor union and affiliated entity clients in diverse ways including by conducting comprehensive legal research, drafting legal documents including pleadings, motions, settlement agreements and correspondence with opposing counsel, conducting discovery and taking depositions, attending hearings, engaging in negotiations, staying abreast of the latest legal developments, and providing legal advice to clients. Collaboration with colleagues and clients on case strategy and delivering excellent legal counsel are key responsibilities.

This is an on-site or hybrid (two days a week remote) position.

Qualifications:
  • At least two years of practice as an attorney with proven experience in case management
  • Excellent legal research skills
  • Excellent legal analysis and writing skills, including proven experience drafting range of documents from pleadings to client correspondence
  • Strong communication skills, including outstanding oral advocacy skills and ability to explain complex legal concepts clearly
  • Strong organization and planning skills to allow for tracking and management of multiple deadlines
  • Strong work ethic and sense of duty and responsibility towards clients, goals, and work product
  • Embrace a collaborative and collegial work approach
  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and admission to the California State Bar
  • Preferred, but not required:
  • Prior experience in labor and employment law practice
  • Demonstrated commitment to the labor movement or social and economic justice
