Responsibilities and practice:
Dentons US LLP is seeking a mid-level associate to join our nationally recognized Litigation and Dispute Resolution practice. Ideal candidates bring strong complex litigation experience, excellent academic credentials, and an interest in high-level insurance coverage litigation, dispute analysis, and coverage assessments. Our associates work collaboratively with our partners and clients, and are key members of our team.

Expected responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Drafting complex case evaluations, pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents
  • Handling all aspects of litigation – from case inception through trial and appeal, where applicable
  • Conducting legal research and drafting analytical memoranda
  • Managing written discovery, document review, and depositions
  • Working directly with clients, witnesses, experts, and other counsel
  • Analyzing insurance coverage and extra-contractual disputes, including drafting coverage opinions and related analyses

Pursuant to Washington, DC law, the salary range for this position in Washington, DC is $260,000 to $390,000 based on experience. Based on years of experience, Dentons associates may have a title of Associate, Managing Associate, or Senior Managing Associate. Technical skills:
  • 4-6 years of complex litigation experience is required
  • Experience with insurance coverage litigation is a strong plus; candidates with complex litigation backgrounds and a genuine interest in high-level coverage work are encouraged to apply
  • Genuine interest in emerging risks in insurance and environmental and products liability underlying litigation is required
  • Strong writing, case management, client-facing, and oral advocacy skills are required
  • Federal District Court or Appellate clerkship is a plus

Other Requirements:
  • Must be licensed to practice law and be in good standing in the state where the hired candidate will be practicing
  • Washington, DC candidates may be licensed in any US state or territory if they are also eligible to waive into the Washington, DC Bar pursuant to DC Court of Appeals Rule 49 and agree to apply for an Exception to Admission
  • Application must include a cover letter detailing candidate's experience and interest in (i) high-level insurance coverage litigation, dispute analysis, and coverage assessments, and (ii) emerging risks in insurance and environmental and products liability underlying litigation, resume, law school transcript, and writing sample
