Littler Mendelson P.C. is seeking attorneys who want to concentrate exclusively on discovery within class actions, collective actions, and PAGA matters. This role allows you to focus on the phase of litigation that aligns most with your strengths and professional interests, such as developing strategy as it relates to discovery in complex actions, drafting and responding to written discovery, evidence management, document review and production, and discovery briefing. By narrowing the scope of responsibilities, you'll gain deeper expertise and make meaningful contributions to complex, high-impact litigation without the demands of full-case management.

Candidate should have a minimum of 6 years of legal experience in wage and hour and class, collective, and/or representative actions and issues to join Littler as a Class Action Counsel, Discovery attorney. The candidate should also possess excellent academic credentials, and their experience should include significant litigation work. Preference for candidates with California Wage & Hour class action and/or PAGA litigation experience, and candidates must be licensed to practice law in their state of residence. Pursuant to California, Columbus and Cleveland, OH, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Washington, and Washington, DC regulation, the starting salary range for this position is $125,000 to $175,000 annually and includes eligibility for performance-based bonuses. Factors which may affect starting pay within this range may include geography/market, skills, education, experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. Responsibilities:
Class Action Counsel are full-time, remote attorneys with a reduced billable hours requirement and with no obligation to engage in any business-related travel or any required business development. These positions are ideal for attorneys seeking interesting, challenging work that allows more flexibility than shareholder path roles.

Class Action Counsel, Discovery attorneys are responsible for partnering with the local trial team to manage all aspects of the discovery process in class, collective, and representative actions, including PAGA matters. Core responsibilities include drafting and responding to written discovery, evidence management, document review and production, preparation for discovery meet and confer process, and discovery briefing. Additional responsibilities include:
  • Partnering with trial teams to develop effective strategies for managing discovery across complex and high-volume matters.
  • Working directly with clients to collect, organize, and manage information and documents necessary to respond to discovery requests.
  • Collaborating with internal litigation support teams and external document-hosting vendors to identify, review, and produce documents during the discovery phase.
  • Drafting protective orders tailored to the needs of large-scale litigation.

Qualifications:
Candidates for this position should have:
  • The ability to discern practical and well-founded discovery approaches for the effective defense of class, collective, and representative actions in wage and hour litigation, including the Fair Labor Standards Act, the California Labor Code (including PAGA actions), and/or other applicable state laws. California wage and hour experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience drafting discovery and responding to discovery in large-scale litigation.
  • Experience working with various document review platforms and vendors to efficiently review and produce documents in discovery.
  • Experience drafting discovery briefing in large-scale litigation.
  • A minimum of 6 years of legal experience in wage and hour and class, collective, and/or representative actions and issues, including hands-on experience being responsible for cases through their entire life cycle.
  • An active bar license in the candidate's state of residence.
