Goldman & Pease LLC, a small, established civil litigation firm in Needham, Massachusetts is seeking an experienced attorney to join our practice.This is an excellent opportunity for a litigator who enjoys substantive case responsibility, direct client interaction, and the ability to work closely with experienced attorneys in a collaborative small-firm environment.
Our practice focuses primarily on civil litigation, including business and real estate disputes. Attorneys work directly with clients and experienced litigators and are involved in all aspects of their cases from inception through resolution. Experience involving business disputes, real estate matters, or related areas is a plus, but not required.
Because we are a small practice, attorneys here are involved in all aspects of their cases rather than handling a narrow segment of a larger matter. We are looking for an attorney who can step into an active litigation practice, assume significant responsibility from the outset, and manage matters with substantial independence while collaborating on strategy and case development with senior attorneys.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing civil litigation matters from inception through resolution
- Drafting and arguing dispositive and non-dispositive motions
- Conducting and defending depositions
- Managing discovery and developing case strategy
- Appearing in Massachusetts state and federal courts
- Communicating directly with clients, opposing counsel, experts, and other parties
- Evaluating cases and participating in settlement negotiations, mediations, and trials
- Maintaining responsibility for deadlines, case files, and client reporting
Qualifications:
- Admission to the Massachusetts Bar and good standing
- Approximately 5+ years of civil litigation experience preferred; exceptional candidates with somewhat less experience will also be considered
- Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills
- Experience independently managing a litigation caseload
- Sound judgment and strong organizational skills
- Ability to work effectively as part of a collaborative team
- Trial experience is welcome but not required
- Experience with business or real estate litigation is a plus
