Description:

Bilingual Immigration Associate Attorney (Entry-Level): Removal Defense & Humanitarian Relief

Brown Law, PLLC Old Town Alexandria, VA $90,000–$110,000 + profit sharing + firm-funded pension

Most new immigration attorneys get thrown into the deep end alone or stuck doing paperwork for years. At Brown Law, you'll get real courtroom experience with a team behind you and mentors invested in your growth.

We're a fast-growing, technology-driven immigration boutique in Old Town Alexandria, serving families in Immigration Court and before USCIS. We're hiring an entry-level associate who wants to build a career in removal defense and humanitarian relief, with the training, support and structure to do it well.

What sets this role apart
  • Mentorship built into your week. You'll work closely with experienced attorneys who review your work, prepare you for hearings and help you develop your judgment. Your first hearings won't be solo.
  • A team-based practice. You'll work alongside attorneys, paralegals and support staff who share the load. You'll always have someone to turn to with a question about strategy, a filing or a client.
  • Responsibility that grows with you. As your skills develop, you'll take on more of your own cases, clients and hearings at a pace that sets you up to succeed.
  • Technology that protects your time. Clients get automatic case updates, so your hours go to learning the law and serving clients, not status calls.
  • Retirement benefits almost no immigration firm offers. These include a firm-funded pension, profit sharing and a 401(k) match (details below).
  • A beautiful Old Town office. It's one of the best buildings in Alexandria, just minutes from the Annandale and Sterling immigration courts.

What You'll Do:
  • Support and progressively manage removal defense and USCIS matters, from intake to resolution, with guidance from senior attorneys.
  • Prepare for and appear at Master Calendar, bond and Individual (merits) hearings, starting alongside experienced colleagues.
  • Work on cases involving asylum, withholding and CAT; cancellation of removal; U visas, T visas, VAWA and SIJS; TPS; adjustment of status; waivers; and family-based petitions.
  • Draft briefs, motions, declarations and evidence packets, with feedback to sharpen your writing.
  • Meet with clients in Spanish and English, and explain high-stakes options clearly and compassionately.

What you bring:
  • A law license in good standing in any U.S. state.
  • Full fluency in Spanish and English, spoken and written. Most of our clients prefer Spanish.
  • 0–2 years of experience. Law school clinic work, internships or externships in immigration or removal defense are a strong plus. This is a removal-defense practice, not business immigration.
  • A genuine commitment to serving immigrant families.
  • Eagerness to learn, openness to feedback and a collaborative approach to your work.
  • Steady judgment and a calm presence under pressure.
