Sinnott, Nuckols & Logan, P.C. is seeking a motivated and talented Virginia-licensed attorney to join our civil litigation and insurance defense practice as a Litigation Associate.

For more than 35 years, our firm has represented some of the industry's largest insurance carriers and their insureds throughout Virginia. We are a well-established civil litigation firm with a strong reputation for providing thoughtful, effective, and practical representation to our clients.

About the Position:
This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney looking to build or continue developing a career in civil litigation. One to four years of litigation experience is preferred; however, we will consider a recent law school graduate who demonstrates strong academic performance, excellent writing and research skills, sound judgment, and a genuine interest in practicing civil litigation.

The successful candidate will work closely with experienced attorneys and have the opportunity to gain meaningful, hands-on experience throughout all stages of litigation.

Responsibilities:
  • Handle a variety of civil litigation and insurance defense matters.
  • Conduct legal research and draft pleadings, motions, briefs, and other legal documents.
  • Participate in discovery, including drafting and responding to discovery requests.
  • Take and defend depositions.
  • Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, insurance carriers, courts, and other professionals.
  • Assist with case strategy and preparation for hearings, mediations, and trials.
  • Appear in state and federal courts as appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with attorneys and paralegals throughout all stages of litigation.

What We're Looking For:
  • Active Virginia Bar license in good standing, or eligibility for Virginia Bar admission for a recent law school graduate.
  • 1–4 years of civil litigation experience preferred; recent law school graduates are encouraged to apply.
  • Strong academic background.
  • Excellent legal research and writing skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple matters and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also being a collaborative member of the team.
