Overview: An Award-Winning Texas Law Firm is seeking a dynamic, self-starting individual with vision, initiative, and a demonstrated commitment to serve as an attorney in the Immigration Department at our San Antonio office.

Reporting Relationship: Reports to the Managing Attorney, Immigration Department.

Duties and Responsibilities: The principal duties of the Immigration Attorney will be to manage a Immigration law caseload and to provide direct supervision to two paralegals. Other responsibilities include:
  • Prepare and submit filings for USCIS, DOS, and EOIR.
  • Prepare filings and conduct hearings before EOIR.
  • Prepare records searches under FOIA for all branches of immigration as well as FBI background checks and police and court records searches.
  • Provides co-counseling assistance to other attorneys of the Immigration Department.
  • Be consistent in note-taking and communication with the client.
  • Review open cases for proper recordkeeping and file maintenance.
  • Participate in departmental meetings.
  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with clients, other attorneys, court employees and immigration officers.
  • Perform other duties which may be assigned by the Managing Attorney for the Immigration Department, CEO, or CLO.

Qualifications:
  • Licensed to practice law in the United States.
  • A minimum of 2 years relevant legal experiences and a demonstrated, zealous commitment to immigration law.
  • Experience in USCIS cases (family-based, asylum, U/T/VAWA, waivers, employment-based a plus) and consular processing cases.
  • Experience in EOIR cases (LPR and non LPR cancelation of removal, asylum, adjustment of status, waivers, etc.).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to think and plan strategically.
  • Ability to have a flexible work schedule.
  • Capable of handling a busy, diverse docket with minimal supervision.
  • Possess a strong work ethic and a sense of accountability.
  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Excellent attendance record.
