Summary:
The Tampa and St. Petersburg offices of Epstein Becker & Green are seeking an associate attorney to join the Firm's growing Healthcare & Life Sciences practice. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with the Firm's attorneys based in Florida while collaborating with attorneys across the Firm's national healthcare platform.

Position Overview:
The associate will advise hospitals, health systems, academic medical centers, physician organizations, life sciences companies, and other healthcare stakeholders on a wide range of corporate, transactional, regulatory, and operational matters. The practice includes significant work involving healthcare transactions, academic medicine, clinical research, and the use and commercialization of health data.

The position is based in either Tampa or St. Petersburg, with the opportunity to work on matters nationally while helping to support and grow the Firm's Florida healthcare practice.

Responsibilities:
The associate will support a broad healthcare practice, including:
  • Healthcare Regulatory & Compliance
  • Conduct legal research and prepare client guidance on federal and state healthcare laws, including the Stark Law, Anti-Kickback Statute, HIPAA and state privacy laws, Medicare and Medicaid billing and reimbursement, licensure, accreditation, and fraud and abuse issues.
  • Assist with regulatory analyses related to physician arrangements, provider affiliations, healthcare transactions, and healthcare operations.
  • Transactional & Corporate Matters
  • Support healthcare transactions, including mergers, acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic affiliations involving hospitals, health systems, academic medical centers, and physician practices.
  • Draft and review ancillary transaction documents, conduct due diligence, and assist with regulatory filings and notices.
  • Healthcare Contracting
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of healthcare agreements, including employment and professional services agreements, vendor and services agreements, business associate agreements, data use and data sharing agreements, and other healthcare commercial contracts.
  • Clinical Research & Academic Medicine
  • Assist in advising hospitals, academic medical centers, and research institutions on clinical research and clinical trial matters, including regulatory compliance, research operations, and investigator and institutional obligations.
  • Support matters involving academic medical center operations, faculty practice plans, and affiliations between universities and health systems.
  • Health Data & Innovation
  • Support counseling related to the use, sharing, and commercialization of healthcare data, including issues involving privacy, de-identification, data governance, and emerging technologies.

Qualifications:
  • J.D. from an accredited law school and admission (or eligibility for admission) to the Florida Bar.
  • 2-5 years of experience, or a strong demonstrated interest in healthcare law, health policy, or life sciences.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills and strong business acumen.
  • Interest in working closely with clients and contributing to a growing, collaborative healthcare practice.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a national, team-based practice.
