Compensation:
Competitive salary based on education, experience, and qualifications with a starting range of $70,000.00/year.

Position Summary & Responsibilities:
Position Summary: The Kansas State Board of Healing Arts (KSBHA) is seeking to fill an Associate General Counsel position. The Associate General Counsel serves under the direction of the General Counsel – providing legal advice, representation and services to the agency, its governing Board, Executive Director, management, staff, advisory Councils, Committees, and other sub-entities.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
This position is responsible for a wide range of areas, including, but not necessarily limited to:
  • Representing the Board in appellate review actions and prosecuting unauthorized practice cases in court.
  • Providing legal advice to the Board in their decision-making capacity during administrative hearings.
  • Providing legal advice and opinions to the Board, advisory Councils and staff.
  • Providing legal review of requests for open records and subpoenas to the agency.
  • Assisting the Executive Director and General Counsel in legislative matters including drafting proposed legislation and presenting testimony before legislative committees.
  • Drafting and reviewing regulations, policies and procedures with regard to form and legality.
  • Responding to inquiries from licensees, stakeholders, other government officials and the public.
  • Performing other work as assigned by General Counsel, and Executive Director.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited school of law and possesses a current Kansas Law license.
Preferred Qualifications: Emphasis in professional licensing, health law, administrative law or related field of practice is preferred.
