Who We're Seeking
The Associate General Counsel is a key position within our Law & Policy team that coordinates internally with other members of the department and externally with senior association members to address various issues faced in the real estate industry. This role will work with various groups within Florida Realtors to create, edit, and enter forms into the Forms Simplicity library. They will assist the Law & Policy department in a variety of tasks such as conducting research, reviewing contracts, and drafting memoranda and articles. Additionally, this role will give presentations and interact with Florida Realtors association committees at our Annual Convention and Mid-Winter Meetings. This role reports to the General Counsel/VP of Law and Policy.

What You'll Do:
  • Liaison for the Forms Committee; responsible for editing/creation of all forms (other than FR/Bar forms)
  • Works with Leadership Team and forms department to get forms approved and into Forms Simplicity library for member use
  • Assists general counsel with Florida Realtors Legal Action Fund, including communicating with outside counsel
  • Communicates with local association counsel on legal issues and changes in the law
  • Review of Florida Realtors various department contracts
  • Writes articles for legal newsletter
  • Approves outside articles for daily news and legal newsletter
  • Travels to give Professional Standards trainings throughout the state
  • Provides back up to legal hotline when needed

Requirements:
Qualified applicants will possess:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree
  • Active Florida Bar membership in good standing; eligible to practice law in Florida
  • At least 5 years of legal experience
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and database management software.
  • Proven track record as a provider of exceptional customer service in any industry
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skillset to include active listening, patience, empathy, phone etiquette, clarity in communication, and proficiency for multitasking
  • Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills with proven ability to explain in detail steps needed/taken to resolve issues
  • Experience with writing in a legal setting
  • Comfortable with public speaking in large settings
  • Strong legal research and writing skills and ability to explain legal research and answers to nonlegal realtors
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot, organize, complete assignments, and complete goals on time and as defined
  • Experience within the real estate industry preferred
