What you'll bring to the teamThe Labor and Employment Attorney will play a pivotal role in providing legal counsel to internal clients in labor and employment matters. The ideal candidate will have experience that includes both litigating various employment issues in state and federal courts including discrimination, retaliation and harassment claims and counseling stakeholders on a full range of employment law issues including Title VII, FMLA, ADA, FLSA, EEOC, and state counterparts. Your expertise will be crucial in shaping HR polices and procedures and counseling internal teams among the many states that Merlin Entertainments operates in North America. Experience with labor and employment laws in the state of California is essential and New York and Florida a plus.
This role is a Hybrid position based out of our Orlando HUB office. In office presence 3 days a week is required.
Qualifications & Experience:
Key Responsibilities:
- Leverage knowledge of the US DOL to provide legal advice and counsel to HR and management on employee relations matters, including but not limited to: employment law, labor relations, employee benefits, and compensation.
- Oversee and manage EEOC complaint process up to right to sue.
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of labor laws and regulations specific to California and maintain awareness of labor law developments in New York, Florida and other states that Merlin Entertainments are located and operate.
- Consult with internal clients to understand their needs, provide legal advice, and develop strategies to mitigate/resolve labor and employment issues effectively.
- Develop, review and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Stay current with labor laws, regulations, and court decisions ensuring accurate legal advice and counsel.
- Efficiently manage a busy workload, including drafting legal documents, conducting legal research, and representing the organization in negotiations.
- Offer guidance to internal clients on labor law compliance, including state-specific wage and hour regulations, employment discrimination laws, and other relevant statutes.
- Educate internal clients on their labor and employment rights, responsibilities, and best practices for compliance.
- Develop and provide training programs to educate employees and management on EEO and union policies, procedures, and prevention strategies.
- Demonstrate an understanding of labor unions, including their structure, roles, and functions within the workplace.
- Manage and oversee external counsel as needed and necessary.
About You:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school, active membership and in good standing in the state bar association of Florida or ability to become Authorized House Counsel in Florida.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience practicing labor and employment law, with specific experience in California. New York experience is a plus.
- Thorough knowledge of federal labor laws and regulations and state counterparts in locations that Merlin Entertainments is located and operates in North America.
- Strong legal research, writing, and oral advocacy skills.
- Self-starter with proven ability to work with minimum supervision and collaborate effectively within a team.

- Dedication to upholding ethical standards and delivering high-quality legal services.
- Effective communication skills for interactions with clients, opposing counsel, and relevant parties.
