We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Associate Criminal Defense Attorney to join our legal team. In this role, you will play a vital part in defending clients facing criminal charges, providing expert legal counsel, and advocating for justice. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in criminal law, exceptional negotiation skills, good communication skills, and the ability to manage complex cases effectively. We are seeking a licensed attorney in Colorado with at least two years of experience in criminal law with district court experience. The candidate will possess excellent legal writing skills, and have a deep understanding of the criminal justice system.

Responsibilities:
  • Represent clients in criminal matters ranging from traffic to serious felony cases across Colorado (primarily Denver Metro)(if you don't have district court experience, that is ok, we will train you).
  • Conduct hearings, motions, and jury trials. In criminal defense you'll be in court often; from Colorado Springs to Fort Collins, from Georgetown to Greeley. We take cases further out and while you may have to drive to court, most of the rural jurisdictions permit virtual appearances.
  • Communicate proactively with clients, ensuring they understand every stage of their case. We do not wait for a client to reach out to us and then react. Time management is imperative.
  • Collaborate with a team that values continuous improvement, detailed preparation, and shared success. We give and take feedback regularly, so you must be receptive to feedback.
  • Be responsible for various KPIs, as this is a data-driven law firm - We use KPIs (key performance indicators) to identify bottlenecks and areas of improvement.
  • You must be comfortable with using metrics to improve and receive performance-based bonuses/feedback.
  • Prepare and draft legal documents such as motions to suppress.
  • Develop strategies and arguments in preparation of cases.
  • Guide clients through the legal process, explaining the law, their rights, and their options.
  • Stay updated with the latest trends and legislation in criminal law and propose new ideas to improve the efficiency of our legal services.
  • Willing to stay up to trends with technology to help increase efficiency.

Requirements:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school with active bar admission in relevant jurisdiction.
  • Proven experience or internship in criminal defense or related legal fields; familiarity with various practice areas such as estate planning or environmental law is a plus.
  • Excellent research skills utilizing Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal research platforms.
  • Strong writing skills with the ability to draft clear and persuasive legal documents.
  • Demonstrated litigation experience including court appearances and client negotiations.
  • Knowledge of legal drafting techniques and the ability to interpret complex laws and regulations.
  • Legal administrative experience managing case files, scheduling hearings, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Exceptional communication skills to effectively advocate for clients in court and during negotiations.
