Your Next Case
As an Intakes Attorney, you'll be the first legal touchpoint for prospective clients seeking guidance through some of life's most challenging situations. You'll partner closely with our Client Development team to conduct consultations with prospective domestic relations and criminal defense clients, evaluate legal matters, provide strategic guidance, and help individuals understand their legal options. Your ability to build trust, communicate clearly, and assess cases will play a vital role in delivering an exceptional client experience and helping clients take the next step with confidence.

In addition to consultations, you'll maintain a small caseload of domestic relations and criminal defense matters, allowing you to continue practicing law while supporting the firm's intake efforts. This is a full-time, exempt Associate Attorney position with a minimum billable requirement of 30 hours per week, consisting of at least 20 hours of chargeable legal work and up to 10 hours of non-billable client consultations.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Conduct consultations with prospective domestic relations and criminal defense clients
  • Evaluate legal matters and provide thoughtful, strategic legal guidance
  • Partner closely with the Client Development team to ensure a seamless intake and client onboarding experience
  • Build rapport with prospective clients while clearly explaining legal options, potential outcomes, and the firm's services
  • Represent clients in domestic relations and criminal defense matters as part of a small caseload
  • Prepare pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, correspondence, and other legal documents
  • Conduct legal research and develop case strategies
  • Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, court staff, and other parties
  • Attend hearings, conferences, mediations, depositions, and other court-related proceedings as needed
  • Manage case deadlines, filings, and documentation
  • Assist with discovery, trial preparation, negotiations, and settlement discussions
  • Maintain a high level of professionalism, confidentiality, and ethical conduct
  • Work collaboratively with attorneys, paralegals, the Client Development team, and staff to provide exceptional client service

Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school; minimum 2 years of experience practicing law
  • Active Colorado law license in good standing
  • Domestic relations experience; criminal law experience a huge plus
  • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and client service skills
  • Professional, organized, detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines
  • Comfortable appearing in court and interacting with clients
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Preferred experience with Westlaw, Filevine, and Microsoft Office

This position may be performed remotely (within the state of Colorado), in a hybrid arrangement, or on-site, depending on the needs of the firm, clients, and assigned cases. The role offers flexibility; however, during the first 90 days of employment, the Associate Attorney is expected to be in the office as much as possible for onboarding, training, and team integration. The typical workday is Monday - Friday, 8 AM - 5 PM.
