Role Purpose:
An American Mass Media and Entertainment Conglomerate Company is looking for a dynamic lawyer to join An American Mass Media and Entertainment Conglomerate Company's Advertising & Marketing legal team. This role will provide strategic counsel and support to the NBCU Television Marketing teams and the NBCU Ad Sales Creative Partnerships team. The ideal candidate will have experience advising on marketing and advertising matters, and supporting clients engaged in the creation of innovative marketing and advertising content and campaigns.

Job Duties:
  • Provide practical, timely advice on marketing and advertising campaigns/activations, including providing legal and business risk analysis to senior executives
  • Review creative materials (including pitches, scripts, rough cuts, final cuts, and social posts) and advise on IP issues, guild considerations, regulatory compliance, and other similar matters
  • Draft and negotiate a wide variety of marketing and advertising agreements, including marketing services agreements, brand integration agreements, sponsorship agreements, talent agreements, influencer agreements, production services agreements, vendor agreements, live events agreements, etc.
  • Consult with the Labor & Employment team to advise on union and guild issues implicated by marketing and advertising materials
  • Work closely with the Privacy legal team to provide privacy-related advice in connection with promotions, live events, campaigns, marketing/advertising websites, and other marketing/advertising activities
  • Monitor legal developments impacting marketing and advertising activities, and provide regular training to Television Marketing and Creative Partnerships client groups on legal issues and risks
  • Assist with various Advertising & Marketing group projects

Qualifications:
Basic Requirements:
  • J.D. from an accredited law school
  • Member of the California State Bar or New York State Bar, or willingness and qualification to be registered in-house counsel in California
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a law firm and/or in-house legal department of a media company

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills, with strong attention to detail
  • Ability to craft innovative, business-friendly solutions, and assist in implementation
  • Proven experience and willingness to advise on novel content and marketing/advertising activations, as well as matters of first impression outside of traditional marketing/advertising
  • Capacity to balance multiple tasks simultaneously, prioritize workload efficiently, and meet deadlines for tasks and assignments

  • Must have unrestricted authorization to work in the United States
  • This position has been designated as hybrid, generally contributing from the office a minimum of three days per week.
