Associate Attorney – Litigation
The Associate Attorney will be responsible for professionally representing creditor clients and assist in obtaining a favorable outcome.

Day to Day
  • Develop a strong professional rapport with defendants and attorneys in person and over the phone to promote a positive working relationship, company brand and reputation.
  • Carefully evaluate cases within required timelines to determine how to proceed on upcoming court calls and ensure a favorable decision for our clients.
  • Appear at administrative hearings for court calls and motions on behalf of the clients.
  • Appear in Federal Court for bankruptcy motions and hearings.
  • Efficiently prepare legal correspondences and review documents for signatures/filings; effectively coach administrative staff on tasks that can be delegated to non-attorneys to enable the lawyers to maximize their time.
  • Handle third party liability accounts by negotiating with insurance companies and attorneys.
  • Put highly legal/technical information into simple terms for defendants.
  • Aggressively negotiate towards the ideal resolution for Arnold Scott Harris, P.C. and the client that are focused on mutual agreement and cost-effectiveness.
  • Manage special goodwill assignments and projects to ensure client satisfaction, gain their trust and strengthen working relationship.
  • Manage processes and support staff.
  • Participate in weekly operations meeting; follow through on action items and bring any concerns to the Managing Attorney to develop and improve the department's overall goals and operations.

What You Must Possess
Must Have:
  • Juris Doctor degree from accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in Illinois
  • Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office including Outlook.
  • Experience in web-based legal research.
  • Must be available to travel to and from court in Chicago and the surrounding counties of Chicagoland.
  • Independent, self-starter who can take direction from managers and work well with non-attorney legal staff.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast paced, self-directed, team-based environment.
  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
