Tucker Ellis LLP is seeking an Associate Attorney to join our Health & Life Sciences Litigation practice in our Los Angeles office. This position offers a hybrid schedule and the opportunity to work on complex, high-stakes litigation involving medical products, and healthcare-related matters, as well as broader product liability and business litigation.About the role:
Due to the continued growth of our Health & Life Sciences practice, we are seeking an associate with 1–5 years of litigation experience, who excels in legal research and writing. Associates in this group gain hands-on experience working closely with a collaborative team, developing litigation strategies, and engaging in all phases of complex litigation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Draft motions, pleadings, and other legal documents
- Conduct legal research and analysis to support case strategy
- Participate in written discovery, including drafting and responding to discovery requests
- Perform sophisticated legal writing and analysis, including drafting complex briefs, memoranda, and case evaluations
- Assist with and take depositions
- Support trial preparation, including fact development, witness preparation, and exhibit management
- Collaborate with attorneys on case strategy and client counseling
- Handle court appearances and argue motions as appropriate for experience level
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school
- 1–5 years of litigation experience required
- Strong legal writing, analytical, and oral advocacy skills
- Experience drafting motions and managing discovery
- Deposition experience or strong interest in developing those skills
- Interest in complex litigation and trial work
- Admitted to practice in California

Compensation and Benefits:
Starting at $195,000+ per year depending on years of experience, with final compensation dependent on relevant experience, qualifications, and overall fit.
