Description: Our firm A Fairfax, Virginia (VA) Law Firm is seeking to hire a full-time associate attorney. We are a growing firm located in Fairfax, VA and accessible from the Dunn Loring metro stop. Our firm primarily practices immigration and criminal with a focus on the unique intersection between immigration and criminal laws. Our attorneys regularly litigate cases in federal, administrative, and state courts in jurisdictions throughout Virginia and Maryland.

We are looking for candidates with 0-5 years of experience in either of our practice areas. Our ideal candidate has excellent oral advocacy skills; strong legal research, writing, and communication skills; and an ability to multitask and handle an active caseload. Given our cases and clients, strong preference will be given to applicants fluent in Spanish and licensed to practice law in the Commonwealth of Virginia.

This position is a hybrid criminal and immigration position, however the candidate does not need experience in both areas of law. We are prepared and willing to train in immigration law or criminal law for someone with sufficient experience in the other area of law. Further, candidates with experience in family law may also apply if they have an interest in practicing criminal and immigration law as well.

Summary of Major Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Litigate criminal, uncontested family custody matters, and immigration cases;
  • Engage in client interviews, meetings, and consultations;
  • Carry active caseloads of immigration and criminal;
  • Communicate with clients, lay witnesses, expert witnesses, opposing counsel, and government officials and staff;
  • Research and draft motions, pleadings, and discovery requests and responses in criminal and domestic cases to file in VA courts;
  • Conduct legal research on various complex immigration and criminal issues;
  • Coordinate all aspects of a client's case, including client communication, research, drafting of personal statements and court filings, preparation of forms, and advocacy with law enforcement and other agencies; and
  • Other related duties as assigned.
