Position Summary & Responsibilities:
A Government Entity is seeking to fill an Assistant General Counsel position. The Assistant General Counsel serves under the direction of the General Counsel – providing legal advice, representation and services to the agency, its governing Board, Executive Director, management, staff, advisory Councils, Committees, and other sub-entities. This position is responsible for a wide range of areas, including, but not necessarily limited to:
  • Representing the Board in appellate review actions and prosecuting unauthorized practice cases in court.
  • Providing legal advice to the Board in their decision-making capacity during administrative hearings.
  • Providing legal advice and opinions to the Board, advisory Councils and staff.
  • Providing legal review of requests for open records and subpoenas to the agency.
  • Assisting the Executive Director and General Counsel in legislative matters including drafting proposed legislation and presenting testimony before legislative committees.
  • Drafting and reviewing regulations, policies and procedures with regard to form and legality.
  • Responding to legal inquiries from licensees, stakeholders, other government officials and the public.
  • Performing other work as assigned by the Board, General Counsel, and Executive Director.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Graduation from an accredited school of law and possess a current Kansas Law license.
