TripleLift's Legal team supports our rapidly evolving and growing global advertising business. Our mandate is to provide strategic and practical legal advice to all functions throughout the organization – and our day to day work is diverse, ranging from drafting and negotiating contracts to evaluating product offerings to monitoring and addressing legislative and regulatory developments that affect the future of the internet. We are energized by the challenges of serving a dynamic, fast-growing company that's shaping the future of online advertising in a complex ecosystem – and we're looking for a new commercial counsel to join the team and assist our continued growth.

The Assistant General Counsel role reports to the General Counsel and manages a broad legal portfolio in support of our commercial initiatives, including negotiating and executing a variety of complex and cutting-edge commercial agreements critical to our expanding business and platform. This role requires a close relationship with executives across the company and with internal clients spanning multiple functions across TripleLift. The role is intentionally broad and requires a deep understanding of our business in order to understand and assess legal and business risks and make sound decisions under tight deadlines. The role requires the successful candidate to advise on international, policy, privacy and regulatory matters related to our expanding product offerings and an ability to identify and improve processes and policies to benefit the business.

Responsibilities:
  • Interact and collaborate with senior executives across TripleLift's diverse business, providing practical and actionable legal advice that appropriately balances business objectives with risk.
  • Supervise other attorneys on go-to-market tasks and projects in a way that is collaborative, inclusive, and supportive. Collaborate with other senior members of the legal team.
  • Review, negotiate and draft a variety of technology and commercial agreements, including terms governing access to our core advertising services, platform vendor and data provider agreements, SAAS, privacy and other technology agreements.
  • Lead complex, cross-border, commercial negotiations with strategic partners and some of the biggest names in digital advertising.
  • Support product, technology and commercial teams in evaluating, protecting and commercializing new products and features.
  • Ensure compliance and draft contracts and policies to address a variety of industry standards, laws and regulations impacting online advertising, including intellectual property, gaming, privacy and political advertising.
  • Help the legal team develop, implement and support the continuous improvement of standard form agreements, legal processes, policies and trainings.
  • Exercise strong judgment to advise TripleLift and contribute to the overall success of the business.
  • Identify, research, analyze, and advise teams on a wide range of relevant legal topics, issues, and risk (e.g., licensing, intellectual property, commercial, data security, and privacy law).
  • Thrive in a collaborative, supportive environment and participate in helping to lead a diverse and highly capable legal team.

Education & Requirements

  • Licensed to practice in New York with superior academic credentials.
  • 6+ years of commercial experience at a top-tier law firm or in-house legal department.
  • Prior experience in adtech, with strong client service skills.
  • Experience with global privacy regulations (GDPR, CCPA/CPRA, etc.).
  • Ability to understand technology and the interplay between legal risk, policy and strategy.
  • Excellent business judgment and ability to assess legal risk while also thinking strategically and providing practical advice.
  • Exceptional communication, analytical and writing skills.
  • Ability and desire to work both autonomously but also collaboratively as part of a growing legal team.
  • Strong project-management and operational skills.

US Jobs: The base salary range represents the low and high end of the TripleLift US salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to experience and performance.
