Job Overview:
We are seeking a dynamic and dedicated Workers' Compensation Defense Attorney to join our legal team. In this role, you will be responsible for representing employers and insurance carriers in workers' compensation claims, providing expert legal counsel, and advocating for clients throughout the claims process. Your expertise will help ensure fair and efficient resolution of cases while maintaining compliance with relevant laws and regulations. Duties:
  • Manage a caseload of workers' compensation defense cases from inception through resolution, including hearings, mediations, and settlement negotiations
  • Conduct thorough legal research using Westlaw, LexisNexis, and other legal research tools to support case strategies
  • Draft and review legal documents such as pleadings, motions, discovery requests, and settlement agreements with precision and clarity
  • Analyze medical reports, accident reports, and employment records to build strong defense strategies
  • Negotiate settlements with claimants, attorneys, and insurance representatives to achieve favorable outcomes
  • Represent clients at hearings before administrative law judges and other proceedings related to workers' compensation claims
  • Collaborate with medical experts, vocational specialists, and other professionals to evaluate case merits and develop defense tactics
  • Stay current on developments in workers' compensation law as well as related areas such as personal injury law, labor law, and regulatory updates

Experience:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school with active bar admission in relevant jurisdiction
  • Proven experience practicing workers' compensation law or related fields such as personal injury law or litigation
  • Strong knowledge of workers' compensation statutes, regulations, and procedural rules
  • Demonstrated ability to conduct detailed legal research using Westlaw or LexisNexis effectively
  • Excellent legal drafting skills with attention to detail in writing pleadings, reports, and correspondence
  • Experience managing multiple cases simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Familiarity with legal administrative processes within a law office setting is preferred
