A Holding Company is looking for a Vice President- Commercial Title Counsel for the state of Tennessee. The VP will act as an effective commercial business market leader and a credible and reliable Tennessee resource to real estate attorneys, agents, and other customers by delivering timely, professional, knowledgeable, and well-reasoned underwriting support. This individual will proactively perform commercial business development and underwriting activities, and achieve maximum commercial sales, profitability, growth, and account penetration.

Position Highlights:
  • Understand Tennessee commercial underwriting principles, make underwriting decisions by handling underwriting issues and field questions from commercial real estate attorneys, agents, and other customers.
  • Coordinate and assist out-of-Tennessee projects for Tennessee attorneys and other clients, using the resources of the Commercial Services Division and other company resources.
  • Work with established underwriting counsel and marketing team in the Southeast Region.
  • Cross train with settlement services; review escrow agreements as requested
  • In collaboration with Executive Marketing team, develop and execute a Tennessee commercial business development strategy.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough understanding of the company's product offering, including service levels, common objections & obstacles, workflow, pricing, states of service, and restrictions and pricing.
  • Develop prospective customers for use as sales leads.
  • Represent the company by attending social and business functions.
  • Determine and report competitor activities and market conditions.

Position Qualifications:
  • Law Degree from an accredited law school required
  • Licensed to practice law in Tennessee required
  • 10+ years of commercial title/real estate industry experience
  • Strong commercial underwriting and process management knowledge and experience, including commercial real estate closings and related title insurance requirements
  • Strong communication skills and ability to distill complex concepts to explain nuances of the transaction to both lay people and professionals
  • Ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects
  • Strong negotiation skills
