Position Summary:
Candidate must have a minimum of 10 years of legal experience in a law firm (preferred) or in an in-house commercial real estate legal department with responsibility for real estate and construction, contract drafting, reviewing and negotiation. Strong drafting skills are required. Familiarity with health care related real estate and construction preferred, but not required.

Essential Job Functions:
  • Draft, review, and negotiate real estate and construction related contracts in a timely and expedient manner.
  • Negotiate contracts and legal matters related to real estate and construction with outside parties and outside counsel.
  • Work collaboratively with the Legal Department, Real Estate and Construction teams and other business leaders.
  • Analyze and summarize legal documents related to real estate and construction.
  • Anticipate and mitigate potential legal problems involving real estate and construction related matters.
  • Oversee real estate/construction related litigation impacting the organization and its affiliated entities.
  • Respond to requests from various departments within the organization and its clients.
  • Other duties as assigned by the SVP, Deputy General Counsel and the Real Estate and Construction Teams.
  • Physical Job Requirements:
  • Dexterity of hands and fingers; Endurance (continuous typing, etc.);
  • Good concentration/intensity

Education, Certification, Computer and Training Requirements:
  • J.D. degree from an ABA accredited law school
  • Admitted to practice law in Texas, Arizona, Connecticut, New York or New Jersey
  • 10+ years' experience in a law firm (preferred) or equivalent in-house legal experience
  • Must be proficient in MS Word and have a working knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to communicate competently, maturely and professionally with clients, outside parties, organization's leadership, physicians, etc.
  • Excellent judgment and discretion, especially regarding confidential and sensitive matters
  • Strong work ethic and commitment
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
  • Strong analysis skills with excellent attention to detail. Familiarity with Lexis or Westlaw.
  • Superior written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to prioritize heavy workload and multitask, while ensuring timely responses and accountability
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

Travel:
  • Travel to and from offices and satellites as needed.
  • Travel to external meetings as needed.
