Description:

We are looking for an exceptional Lawyer to join our Employment Litigation team as a Senior Counsel or Vice President. The title will be determined based on the hired candidate's level of experience. This role is based in New York City, and is a hybrid position.

A snapshot of your responsibilities:
  • Manage all aspects of employment litigation and related administrative proceedings filed in New York and other States, including California
  • Provide day-to-day legal advice and counseling to various A Mass Media Company business units (News, Sports, Television Stations, Tubi, etc.) on all aspects of employment law, including issues of harassment, discrimination and retaliation, the hiring process, discipline and terminations, leaves of absence, reasonable accommodations, wage and hour issues, employee investigations, etc.
  • Periodically present seminars to A Mass Media Company employees on various topics (e.g., harassment, discrimination, and retaliation; etc.) and prepare materials as needed for those presentations
  • Conduct legal research as needed; create and revise Company policies and procedures; prepare Legal Memos for Human Resources and other executives; etc.
  • Periodically draft and/or review vendor and consulting agreements, including HR-related global sourcing contracts (e.g., relating to employee benefits, retirement, staffing)

What you will need:
  • Law school degree with at least 6-8 years of employment litigation experience, preferably with a combination of law firm and in-house experience at a public company
  • Ability to formulate and execute litigation strategy
  • Substantial experience advising and counseling in-house clients on all aspects of employment law
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, but also collaboratively in team settings when needed
  • High level of self-direction and sound judgment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • New York Bar admission: active Bar membership is preferred
