Description:

The ideal candidate is a seasoned litigator who can step into active matters, quickly master the record, develop and execute trial strategy, prepare witnesses and exhibits, and confidently represent clients in court. The attorney will work collaboratively with the Managing Attorney and litigation team.

Responsibilities:
Applicants must have experience and the ability to complete the following independently:
  • Serve as first-chair trial counsel in designated bench and jury trials.
  • Represent clients in trial, significant dispositive hearings, settlement conferences, mediations, arbitrations, and other substantive proceedings.
  • Develop and execute comprehensive trial, hearing, and settlement strategies in coordination with the Managing Attorney.
  • Prepare and present evidence; conduct direct and cross-examinations, opening statements, closing arguments, and evidentiary presentations.
  • Draft, review, revise, and argue dispositive motions, motions in limine, trial briefs, and other significant litigation filings.
  • Lead trial preparation, including witness preparation, exhibit and witness lists, exhibit books, trial binders, and coordination with experts and consultants.
  • Evaluate case strengths, weaknesses, damages, evidentiary issues, and litigation risks and provide strategic recommendations.
  • Negotiate settlements and advise clients regarding significant litigation and resolution decisions.
  • Review, revise, and supervise work performed by associates, research attorneys, paralegals, and other litigation support staff.
  • Ensure compliance with critical court deadlines, procedural requirements, and trial-related obligations.
  • Collaborate with Firm leadership and mentor attorneys and support staff to strengthen the Firm's overall litigation practice

Qualifications:
  • EXPERIENCE: Minimum 10 years of civil litigation experience; 10-20+ years preferred. Business and/or real estate litigation experience in Los Angeles County courts is a plus. To provide context, here's an overview of our sub-practice areas: Business Litigation: Business contracts, partner disputes, breach of contract & fraud, debt collection & debt negotiation; Real Estate Litigation: Construction disputes, purchase & sale disputes, co-ownership disputes.
  • LICENSE: Must be an active member in good standing with the California State Bar.
  • EDUCATION: JD from an accredited law school.
  • LOCATION: Must reside in Los Angeles County to attend in-person court proceedings.
  • COMMUNICATION: Outstanding verbal and written communication skills. Spanish Speaking Optional.
  • TRIAL EXPERIENCE:
  • Substantial first-chair or significant trial experience in Los Angeles Superior Court.
  • Demonstrated experience handling both bench and jury trials.
  • Strong command of California civil procedure, evidence, trial practice, and courtroom procedure.
  • Experience preparing witnesses and managing all aspects of trial preparation.
  • Excellent oral advocacy, legal analysis, and litigation strategy skills.
  • Ability to independently take ownership of a matter when preparing for and appearing at trial.
  • TECHNOLOGY: Strong proficiency with AI, Microsoft Outlook, Word, Adobe, Dropbox, Zoom, Slack, Asana, cloud document systems, CRM/intake platforms, and remote-work technology. Home office in a quiet professional location (no background noise).
