Description:
Saretsky Katz Dranoff Weissman & Maynard, LLP is seeking an experienced trial attorney with demonstrated first-chair jury trial experience to join its expanding civil litigation practice. This is a hands-on trial position for an attorney who can independently prepare and try cases through verdict. Our practice includes insurance defense, automobile liability, municipal liability, premises liability, general negligence, and related civil litigation matters.Responsibilities:
- Serve as lead counsel at jury and bench trials
- Independently manage an active litigation caseload
- Develop case strategy and evaluate liability, damages, and exposure
- Take and defend depositions
- Appear at conferences, hearings, and oral arguments
- Draft and argue dispositive and other substantive motions
- Prepare witnesses, experts, exhibits, motions in limine, jury charges, and other trial materials
- Negotiate settlements and participate in mediations
- Communicate directly with clients and insurance carriers regarding case strategy, developments, and evaluations
- Work collaboratively with attorneys and support staff
Qualifications:
- Admission to the New York State Bar in good standing
- Demonstrated first-chair jury trial experience
- Ability to independently prepare and try cases through verdict
- Strong courtroom and advocacy skills
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Sound judgment and strong case-management skills
- Experience in insurance defense, general negligence, municipal liability or related civil litigation strongly preferred
Compensation:
- Base salary: $160,000–$190,000, depending on experience, trial background and qualifications
- Annual billable-hours expectation: 1,800 hours
- Fixed bonuses for reaching various annual and quarterly billable hour thresholds above 1,800 hours
