Davis Wright Tremaine LLP is seeking a junior to midlevel associate to join the Trademark group within the firm's Intellectual Property practice. This position will support a robust trademark practice that advises leading technology, media, and consumer brand companies on protecting and enforcing their intellectual property.Responsibilities:
- Conduct U.S. trademark clearance searches and preliminary multinational searches, analyze results, and prepare trademark search opinions
- Manage domestic and international trademark prosecution, including preparing and responding to Office Actions
- Support trademark enforcement matters, including cease-and-desist letters and related investigation and strategy
- Assist with Trademark Trial and Appeal Board (TTAB) proceedings, including but not limited to drafting discovery requests and reviewing discovery responses, drafting motions, conducting investigations, collecting and organizing evidence
- Advise clients on trademark portfolio strategy, brand protection, and related intellectual property issues
- Coordinate with foreign counsel on international filings and portfolio management
- Work closely with partners and clients on a wide range of trademark counseling matters
- Assist with UDRP proceedings, including drafting Complaints and Answers, and putting together Appendices
- Assist in identifying and obtaining the information needed to complete copyright registration forms, and in identifying and preliminarily advising on other copyright-related issues
- Preparing trademark and copyright licenses and assignments
- Assist with due diligence and other IP-related tasks in support of corporate transactions
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 2-5 years of experience in trademark law at a law firm
- Experience with U.S. and multinational trademark clearance (including with use of the SAEGIS and/or Corsearch search databases), U.S. and foreign trademark prosecution, TTAB proceedings, trademark enforcement matters, and IP due diligence and other corporate transaction support
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills
- Strong investigation skills
- Excellent organizational and project management abilities
- Ability to manage multiple matters and work both independently and collaboratively
- Admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction (or eligibility to waive in)
- JD from an accredited law school
