Job Description:
The National Fraud Enforcement Division of the U.S. Department of Justice is seeking qualified, experienced attorneys for permanent Trial Attorney positions in the Division's Corporate Enforcement Section.

Generally, as a Trial Attorney, the incumbent(s) will:
  • Assist the Fraud Division's litigating sections in overseeing all aspects of its corporate criminal enforcement practice, including advising prosecution teams on the evaluation of corporate criminal liability and the structural, monetary, and compliance components of corporate resolutions;
  • Assist in overseeing corporate compliance matters and the administration of compliance reporting obligations;
  • Provide advice and assist in drafting and revising the Fraud Division's corporate criminal enforcement policies;
  • Work with line and supervisory attorneys in each of the Fraud Division's litigating Sections—including Health Care Fraud, Public Trust and Financial Integrity, Tax, and Global Trade and Commerce Enforcement—to ensure compliance with relevant Department policy and advancement of strategic objectives with respect to corporate criminal enforcement;
  • Oversee the development of training relevant to each litigating section regarding corporate enforcement, the evaluation of corporate compliance programs, and remediation;
  • Provide crime victim assistance to the litigating sections;
  • Liaise with domestic and/or or foreign law enforcement and/or regulatory partners as necessary to achieve strategic objectives necessary to successful coordination in investigating and prosecuting fraud matters.

Qualifications:
Required Qualifications: Interested applicants must possess a J.D., or equivalent, degree, be duly licensed and authorized to practice as an attorney under the laws of any State, territory of the United States, or the District of Columbia, and be an active member of the bar in good standing.

Grade Specific Qualifications:
  • To qualify at the GS-14 grade level, applicants must have at least two and a half (2.5) years post-J.D. legal experience, one of which was specialized experience at, or equivalent to, the GS-13 grade level. Examples of specialized experience include performing legal analysis and formulating recommendations to senior managers; composing pleadings, briefs, and other court documents involving legal issues in civil or criminal litigation; and conducting civil or criminal litigation.
  • To qualify at the GS-15 grade level, applicants must have at least four (4) years post J.D. legal experience, one of which was specialized experience at, or equivalent to, the GS-14 grade level. Examples of specialized experience include independently performing legal analysis; composing pleadings, briefs and other court documents involving unique or difficult legal issues in civil or criminal litigation; conducting highly complex civil or criminal litigation; and leading paralegals and support staff.

Preferred Qualifications
: Your qualifications will be further evaluated based upon the following competencies:
  • Demonstrated compliance experience within multiple industries (health care, government contracting, import/export, tax, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and/or testing regulatory compliance controls.
  • Knowledge of, and experience implementing, best practices for an effective compliance program.
  • Experience conducting investigations of business organizations and entities.
  • Experience with corporate criminal resolutions.
  • Experience with the federal judiciary.
  • Experience with civil or criminal fraud matters.
  • Knowledge of white-collar criminal litigation.

Salary:
