About the Job:Murchison & Cumming, LLP is seeking a Transportation Litigation Attorney with 4+ years of relevant litigation experience to join our transportation practice representing major trucking and transportation companies in significant litigation matters.
This role offers the opportunity to manage matters independently, work directly with clients and experienced attorneys, and develop deeper expertise in transportation litigation while handling cases from early evaluation through resolution.
This is a remote position for attorneys residing in California. Most M&C attorneys work from home. Office space is available for attorneys who prefer it. In-person attendance is required as necessary for court appearances, depositions, mediations, client matters and other litigation responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently manage transportation litigation matters from intake through resolution
- Conduct early case evaluation and develop litigation strategy
- Draft motions, discovery responses and legal memoranda
- Conduct and defend depositions
- Appear in court and argue motions
- Communicate directly with clients and claims professionals
- Participate in mediations and settlement negotiations
- Prepare matters for trial
- Collaborate with partners and experienced trial attorneys on significant matters
Qualifications:
- JD from an accredited law school
- Active and in good standing with the California State Bar
- 4+ years of litigation experience handling transportation matters
- Strong legal writing, oral advocacy and analytical skills
- State court experience
- Trial experience a plus
- Ability to manage matters independently
- Must reside in California
