About the Position:
We are seeking a Texas-licensed attorney to join our team as a remote Contract Attorney on a 1099 basis. This role is dedicated to handling transactional matters and offers a flexible workload ranging from 20 to 40+ hours per week. Because our practice is entirely remote, candidate attorneys can be located anywhere within the state of Texas.

Responsibilities:

Manage Transactional Workload: Independently handle firm-assigned transactional matters in real estate and business law.
Transactional Case Type Examples: Real estate purchase contract reviews, deed preparation (e.g., warranty, TODD, and owelty deeds), commercial and residential lease drafting/negotiations, entity formations and operating agreements (including Series LLCs), asset purchase agreements, owner-financing packages, and non-compete or employment agreement reviews.
Leverage Legal Technology: Utilize firm-provided AI platforms, cloud document automation, and tech tools to maximize draft quality and turnaround efficiency.
Collaboration: Collaborate with our legal assistants, supervising attorneys and administrative support staff to deliver high-quality, timely work products.

Compensation & Workload

Compensation Structure: Paid biweekly at 1/3 of collected billables (e.g., a $400/hr billing rate equals $133.33/hr to the contractor). Flat-fee matters (e.g., deed preparations at $500 per file) are paid at the same ratio.
Flexible Hours: Steady case volume available to support anywhere from 20 to 40+ hours per week, depending on your availability and capacity.

Qualifications & Ideal Candidate

Active license in good standing with the State Bar of Texas.
Tech-Savvy: Tech-forward mindset with strong comfort adapting to new software, AI legal tools, and virtual collaboration tools.
Location: Must reside and be eligible to practice anywhere in the state of Texas.
Expertise: Solid background or demonstrated competency in drafting and reviewing real estate and commercial transactional documents.
Strong legal research, writing, communication, and time-management skills.
Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and capable of managing a remote workflow independently.
Conflicts Note: Not intended for attorneys currently serving as contract counsel for multiple competing firms or maintaining a large personal practice in the same practice areas.
