Davis Wright Tremaine LLP is seeking an accomplished and motivated Associate to join our intellectual property litigation team in Seattle, New York, or Washington, DC. You will support high-stakes disputes in federal courts and before the U.S. International Trade Commission (ITC) and the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB). This is a rare opportunity to work closely with some of the country's most recognized IP litigators, contributing to cutting-edge cases in sectors such as semiconductors, telecommunications, medical devices, software, fin tech and biotechnology.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate closely with partners to handle complex intellectual property disputes in district court, before the ITC, and in PTAB proceedings, for high-profile clients, including market-leading technology companies and startups.
  • Conduct legal research, analyze case law, and contribute to the development of litigation strategy for issues related to patent validity and infringement, issues at the intersection of IP and antitrust law, and high-tech aspects of other commercial litigation and disputes.
  • Draft pleadings, motions, discovery plans, and other critical documents.
  • Prepare for depositions, hearings, and trials, including reviewing evidence, creating trial materials, and engaging with expert witnesses.
  • Stay abreast of emerging legal and technology issues in intellectual property law, including technology standards and patent misuse defenses.
  • Provide support for appeals and amicus briefs before the Federal Circuit and the U.S. Supreme Court.

Qualifications:
  • J.D. degree from an ABA-accredited law school with an excellent undergraduate and law school academic record.
  • Bar admission (or eligibility for admission) to the state in which you are working.
  • 3–7 years of experience in intellectual property litigation, including experience with patent litigation in federal courts, ITC hearings, and/or PTAB proceedings.
  • Strong understanding of, and experience with, technical subject matters such as semiconductors, software, telecommunications, medical devices, software, fin tech and biotechnology or related fields. A degree in the sciences or technical background is required.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and writing skills.
  • Strong oral communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment.
  • Ability to work on multiple cases in a fast-paced, dynamic litigation practice.
