Description:The SMU Dedman School of Law seeks to hire a full-time Director of its Graduate Tax Program. The position is a non-tenured, Professor of Practice faculty appointment. The appointment is for three years, and reappointment for subsequent years is possible upon satisfactory performance. The Director will provide vision, strategic leadership, and administrative oversight of all aspects of the Graduate Tax LLM program.

- J.D. degree
- At least 5 years' practice experience in tax law or a tax-related field
- Teaching experience or a passion for student development and training
- A demonstrated commitment to public service and a desire to engage in the intellectual life of the University
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Strong collaborative skills and experience in working with other professionals
Key Responsibilities:
- Recruit qualified students to enter the Graduate Tax LLM program
- Assist with placing Tax LLM graduates into influential legal positions
- Develop and maintain partnerships with law firms and law schools to increase student enrollment
- Elevate the Graduate Tax LLM Program's national reputation
- Enhance the academic experience of the graduate tax students
- Develop and facilitate programming that educates and fosters connections among graduate tax students, the professional community, and the study and practice of tax law
- Teach one tax course each semester
- Contribute to the law school, legal profession, and community through leadership, collaboration, and service
