The?Tax Counsel is a member of the A National CPA and Consulting Firm Tax Consulting team. ?This individual will provide counsel and guidance on a wide range of tax-exempt and general business matters for the firm.
What you will do:
- Assessing activities for unrelated business taxable income
- Clergy housing allowance
- International grantmaking compliance
- Foreign earned income exclusion
- Accountable expense reimbursement plans
- Sales tax compliance
- Property tax compliance
- Obtaining and maintaining exempt status
- Conduct legal research and write understandable responses to client questions.
- Prepare materials for presentation and/or present at conferences/workshops to both inform the audience and highlight the value of A National CPA and Consulting Firm's Tax Consulting services.
- Write articles to be published in accounting and tax-exempt organization publications.
- Pursue additional work beyond assigned client work to increase professional knowledge and provide support to all firm clients.
- Display integrity and professional behavior consistent with A National CPA and Consulting Firm focus on mission-based organizations and the firm's vision, mission, and core values.
What you will bring:
- Bachelor's degree is required.
- J.D. degree from an accredited law school is required
- An active attorney license in good standing is required
- Certified public accounting license in good standing is desired, but not required
- A minimum 5 plus years of experience working with tax matters specific to exempt organizations
- Experience in public accounting is beneficial
- An interest in federal tax law and specifically tax-exempt organizations is required
