Description:
Wilson Tax Law Group is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Tax Attorney to join our growing tax controversy practice. This position focuses on representing individuals and businesses in matters before the IRS, California Franchise Tax Board (FTB), California Department of Tax and Fee Administration (CDTFA), Employment Development Department (EDD), and U.S. Tax Court.Responsibilities:
- Represent clients in federal and state tax controversy matters.
- Analyze tax issues and develop strategies for resolving disputes with taxing authorities.
- Draft legal memoranda, protest letters, appeals, petitions, and other legal documents.
- Communicate directly with IRS, FTB, CDTFA, EDD, and other government agencies.
- Conduct legal research and provide written and verbal advice to clients.
- Attend client meetings, administrative hearings, settlement conferences, and court proceedings.
- Review financial records, tax returns, and supporting documentation.
- Manage a caseload independently while collaborating with attorneys and support staff.
- Maintain accurate timekeeping and meet monthly billable hour requirements.
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice law in California and authorized to appear before the IRS.
- 2+ years of experience in tax controversy, tax litigation, or related tax matters preferred.
- Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and client-relations abilities.
- Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines simultaneously.
- Experience with IRS collections, audits, appeals, offers in compromise, installment agreements, employment tax issues, or state tax matters is a plus.
- LL.M. in Taxation preferred but not required.
