Description:
Position Summary:We are looking for a resourceful, dedicated attorney who can work well with people from all walks of life. The attorney will represent older adults in a variety of legal areas—public benefits, consumer debt, housing, financial exploitation, and rights in nursing or assisted living facilities. In addition to direct client representation, this role will include legal education in the community, advocacy on systemic issues, and collaboration with partners at local, state, and national levels.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality legal assistance to older adults on a variety of legal issues.
- Engage in client representation, negotiations, and litigation.
- Participate in broad-based advocacy to address systemic issues affecting older adults.
- Collaborate with community partners and provide legal education to the public.
- Serve clients who may be experiencing financial instability, health issues, or other challenges, with empathy and professionalism.
Requirements:
- JD degree and active license to practice law in Ohio.
- Strong skills in legal research, writing, negotiation, and courtroom advocacy.
- Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to relate to and build trust with clients from varied backgrounds and life situations.
- Well-organized; comfortable managing multiple tasks, meeting deadlines, and working under pressure.
- Comfortable working with clients facing financial difficulties, health issues, trauma, or other adverse conditions.
- Proficiency with case management systems; solid user of Microsoft Office.
- Fluency in Spanish (or another language used by clients) is a plus.
