Description:
As a Staff Attorney, under the direction of the General Counsel and Assistant General Counsel(s), you will be responsible for assisting in fulfilling the Legal Department function of providing legal counsel and advice to the Company's Executive Management, Officers and employees with respect to all areas of Company operations and in drafting, reviewing and advising the Company's Executive Management and Officers with respect to corporate documents and agreements. You may work closely with several experienced lawyers to develop skills and increase knowledge base of Company and its products.Duties & Responsibilities:
- Assist in drafting, reviewing, and advising the Company's personnel with respect to corporate documents and agreements required or appropriate to protect the Company or implement Company objectives.
- Assist in providing legal counsel and advice to personnel regarding compliance, products, tax, market conduct, claims, complaint handling and customer service issues.
- Assist in analyzing and interpreting newly enacted or proposed legislation and regulatory and judicial mandates affecting Company business and to anticipate Company needs arising from them.
- Assist in litigation matters in support of Legal Department management.
- Assist in reviewing, analyzing and advising Company employees related to compliance requirements, changes in regulations and laws and compliance implementation.
- Advise Company personnel on the potential legal ramifications of proposed organizational policies and procedures.
- Assist in coordinating the establishment, implementation and maintenance of the Privacy and the Anti-Money Laundering programs for the Company and its subsidiaries in compliance with federal and state law and regulatory requirements.
- Maintain a current level of knowledge and skill on current legal trends through attendance at relevant training programs, conferences, seminars, and through self-study.
Skills & Experience:
- Admission to New York State Bar required.
- 3 or more years of Law experience required.
- Experience with corporate law, contract law and general business law, and statutory and regulatory interpretation required.
- Compliance experience (including cybersecurity, USA PATRIOT Act Anti-Money Laundering, Privacy Law, law and regulation interpretation) required.
- Thorough knowledge of insurance law (life and annuities with particular competence in the New York Life Insurance Law); corporate ; employment and benefits , intellectual property ; litigation practice and procedure, securities and investments, trusts and estates, law preferred.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required.

Pay Range: $89,000 - $121,000 annually
