This role will assist with and manage compliance, business, and integrity matters relating to sports betting and prediction markets, including enforcement of the NBA Gaming Policy. Reporting to the Vice President & Assistant General Counsel, League Governance & Policy, core responsibilities include: managing and enhancing integrity systems and protections, including via coordination with league partners; managing ongoing Gaming Policy training and awareness efforts; providing legal and regulatory guidance to internal stakeholders; and supporting investigations into potential Gaming Policy violations.
Major Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with internal stakeholders and league partners to administer and enhance existing sports betting integrity infrastructure.
- Adapt and expand existing integrity monitoring infrastructure to address sports prediction markets, including working with internal analytics team to develop and refine a comprehensive monitoring platform.
- Support work on policies applicable to these integrity efforts, including NBA rules and relevant laws and regulations (federal, state, and international).
- Provide legal and regulatory guidance to internal stakeholders.
- Assist in developing and administering Gaming Policy training, education, and awareness programs for the league office and across all leagues and teams.
- Support investigations into potential Gaming Policy violations.
- Work with internal stakeholders on development and administration of league marketing rules and guidelines relating to sports betting and prediction markets.
- Handle special projects as needed.
Required Education/Professional Experience
- Juris doctor degree and bar admission.
- Three to five years of law firm or in-house legal department experience in a litigation or compliance role.
Required Skills/Knowledge Attributes
- Excellent analytical, writing, and oral presentation skills.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Experience interviewing/deposing individuals.
- Skilled at analyzing numbers and data; Microsoft Excel competency a plus.
- Understanding of betting markets and related terminology.
Salary Range:
$200,000-$245,000
