The Staff Attorney 2 position will provide legal advice and support to the agency in its mission to "Improve Lives Through Transportation." This is an exciting opportunity for an attorney to continue or begin a career with the State of Connecticut, in a collaborative working environment that assists the CTDOT in executing initiatives and complying with mandates and objectives related to the delivery of state transportation-related projects and programs.
The ideal candidate should have strong organizational skills to efficiently and effectively handle a large volume of work. The candidate should be able to work collaboratively with staff in the Legal Services Unit, the five CTDOT Bureaus, and with attorneys within and outside of state agencies.

Position Highlights:
- Full Time, 40 hours per week
- Monday through Friday
- Location: Newington, CT
- This position is eligible to apply for telework after successful completion of the working test period, and thereafter, in accordance with the Telework Policy. Employees in their initial working test period must work on site in the office
The Role:
The Staff Attorney 2 position will report to the CTDOT Legal Director and will be responsible for providing legal support to CTDOT management and other employees. The selected candidate will be part of a staff of six attorneys who assist in the interpretation of and compliance with state and federal statutes and regulations, as well as CTDOT and state processes and procedures. The position may work with other attorneys in the agency, focused in the Bureau of Engineering and Construction, the Bureau of Policy and Planning, and the Bureau of Public Transportation- Rail division, as well as the Office of the Attorney General (OAG), and outside counsel.
Responsibilities may include:
- Helping to develop and maintain unit procedures
- Develop and recommend the development of policies and standards
- Act as a liaison with other operating units, agencies, and outside attorneys
