This is a hybrid position and involves regular performance of job responsibilities virtually as well as in-person at an assigned TU office location for a minimum of two days a week.
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited school required.
- Qualified candidates must have an active license to practice law and be in good standing in the applicable state(s) of employment by the position start date (or as otherwise permitted by state rules).
- At all times of employment, qualified candidates must remain in good standing and maintain an active license to practice law in their applicable state(s) of employment.
- Required knowledge of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and experience applying the FCRA in either a product counsel or other regulatory advisory setting
- 6+ years of experience as a practicing attorney and confidence to provide advice to senior level executives to further strategy while protecting against legal, regulatory or reputational risk
- Ability to serve as a trusted partner to the Alternative Data team to support their product development and contracting needs
- Knowledge of the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) and experience applying the FCRA in either a product counsel or other regulatory advisory setting
- Experience and confidence to provide advice to senior level executives to further strategy while protecting against legal, regulatory or reputational risk
- The ability to provide sophisticated and impactful legal counseling with internal stakeholders who rely upon clear, well-articulated and succinct communication from legal to guide high-level decision making and strategy
- Must be a self-starter and capable of independent work with minimal guidance at times
- Solid organizational, project management, problem solving and decision-making skills with a high degree of comfort managing multiple assignments
- Experience working within matrixed organizations
- Experience advising clients with regard to and negotiating financial, data, and technology agreements in a regulated environment
- Knowledge and understanding of laws and regulations relating to banking, lending, privacy, and data sharing – especially the FCRA, GLBA, and 1033
- Serve as Senior Product Counsel for the Alternative Data team, reviewing new products and enhancements to products
- Advise internal clients on legal issues and the implications of alternative positions to enable informed business decisions
- Maintain primary responsibility for drafting template agreements for new products or solutions
- Negotiate partner and data provider agreements
- Provide advice to stakeholders regarding changes in the law, contracts, or other legal issues that may involve the company's short or long-term strategic operations
- Responsible for keeping abreast of current legislative and regulatory developments that may have an impact upon operations
- Assists other attorneys on various matters including those which present potential for litigation
- Maintain complete confidentiality of company-related business
