Provide Philips North America's Personal Health businesses with expert advice on marketing and selling our renowned products such as the award-winning Norelco grooming tools, the famous Sonicare oral care products, and the highly acclaimed Avent mother and childcare items. Responsibilities include providing strategic marketing counsel, supporting sales and distribution, and drafting and negotiating commercial contracts, including innovative models like insurance payors and subscriptions. Ideal for a business lawyer with strong experience in consumer product marketing, claims substantiation, and sales agreements across diverse customer segments. Serve as a legal advisor within a multidisciplinary team, collaborating across the Global Legal Function and engaging stakeholders at all levels. May include oversight of legal staff to ensure aligned legal strategy and execution across business initiatives.
Your Role:
- Provide legal guidance on marketing and sales initiatives, including advertising, promotions, contests, sponsorships, product placements, and influencer agreements to ensure compliance. Support sales across retail, consumer, dental, and insurance channels with tailored legal advice. Draft and negotiate agreements for direct-to-consumer, subscription, and insurance-based sales models. Additionally, provide contract support and strategic advice for retail sales operations, including compliance with Minimum Advertised Price (MAP) policies and the Robinson-Patman Act.
- Draft and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts and providing legal support for healthcare-professional engagements within the Personal Health sector. Skilled in navigating complex regulatory frameworks affecting consumer products, including medical devices, with a strong understanding of laws enforced by the FTC, FDA, EPA, CPSC, the Lanham Act, and California Proposition 65. Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional legal teams and business stakeholders to align legal strategies with organizational objectives, particularly in contract and marketing matters.
- Manages a broad range of litigation matters, including product liability, competitive advertising challenges, and other legal disputes, ensuring alignment with business strategy. Demonstrates strong drafting skills and the ability to identify legal and business risks with precision. Communicates legal and commercial risks clearly and concisely to business stakeholders. Operates effectively in a fast-paced environment, consistently meeting business needs, even under tight deadlines.
You're the right fit if:
- You've acquired 8+ years of experience in a law firm or in-house law department for consumer-packaged goods (CPG). Expertise within medical device marketing is a bonus.
- Your skills include a strong knowledge of key regulatory frameworks such as the FTC, FDA, CPSC, Lanham Act, state consumer protection laws, and the Robinson-Patman Act. Experience includes managing litigation, overseeing outside counsel, and handling matters before the National Advertising Division (NAD). Proficient in advising on marketing claims, promotional materials, and product sales to major retailers. Holds a working knowledge of privacy regulations and experience supporting international operations or working within multinational corporations.
- You have a Bachelor's / Master's in Law; J.D. required, admitted to practice in the United States.

We believe that we are better together than apart. For our office-based teams, this means working in-person at least 3 days per week. Onsite roles require full-time presence in the company's facilities. Field roles are most effectively done outside of the company's main facilities, generally at the customers' or suppliers' locations.

Philips Transparency Details
The pay range for this position in Cambridge, MA and Stamford, CT is $200,000 to $319,000.
The actual base pay offered may vary within the posted ranges depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, business needs, geographical location, and internal equity.
In addition, other compensation, such as an annual incentive bonus, sales commission or long-term incentives, may be offered. At Philips, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top end of the range for their role and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each case.
