Description:
This role will assist Legal Department leadership in all functions of the Legal Department but will focus primarily on developing, negotiating and supporting managed care service contracts for the company's behavioral health and EAP lines of business.- Provides legal support (reviewing, developing, negotiating) for other proposals, customer contracts, and related documents on a national basis for the company's EAP and other behavioral health business, including negotiation of commercial and MCO (Medicaid/Medicare) agreements. (20%)
- Provides legal oversight, direction and/or counsel for the Company's workplace behavioral health lines of business, on operational and customer issues, including advising on matters relating to operations processes, confidentiality (including duty to warn and abuse reporting), appeals of adverse decisions and complaints, new products; reviewing and developing forms; providing guidelines and training on legal obligations specific to EAP line of business; reviewing customer communications regarding the Company's workplace behavioral health products; reviewing inquiries, complaints, and FOIA requests from government agencies and customers, coordinating and creating/reviewing responses; collaborating with the workplace behavioral health business units and the Company's shared services functions to develop and promote operational "best practices" that comply with contract and regulatory requirements and reduce the Company's legal risk; interpreting customer contracts and resolving contract issues; collaborating with behavioral health customers to coordinate interpretation and implementation of statutory/regulatory requirements and coordinate resolution of issues; reviewing and revising EOBs, commercial behavioral health communications (member, customer, and EAP provider) and other correspondence, documents, and EAP policies for adherence with law and avoidance of misrepresentation. (20%)
- Participates as legal advisor and, as appropriate, leader on committees in resolving application of complex legal and federal statutory/ regulatory issues, particularly for EAP and other workplace behavioral health lines of business, assisting in development and implementation of solutions. (20%)
- Responsible for providing legal advice and counsel to corporate officers, managers and employees of the company and its various lines of business on proposals, contracts, operations, account management, regulatory issues, risk management, and other issues relating to the Company's managed care and workplace behavioral health business. (20%)
- Provides legal support on intercompany agreements and joint business and development agreements. Supervises the Contracts Coordinator, employer markets; Other projects as assigned. (20%)

Responsibilities:
- 8+ years of legal experience in healthcare industry.
- 10+ years of experience in a law firm, corporate or government setting practicing in a legal specialty area of relevance to the operations and functions and business of Company.
- Admitted to practice law in at least one state.
- Excellent written and verbal communications/advocacy skills, ability to work independently, ability to fashion practical business solutions to complex legal situations, negotiation skills.
- General knowledge of the behavioral health care industry and regulatory environment.
