Job Overview: A Software Company is seeking a pragmatic, business-minded attorney with minimum of 5 years of experience to join the global Legal team of a fast-growing software company. In the first 90 days, Senior Legal Counsel will be expected to earn the trust of key stakeholders; own responsibility as the primary Legal contact for the America and JAPAC sales and retention teams; learn our software and the marketing technology space; become familiar with our standard agreements, policies, and other documents; and learn our Deal Desk approval process, pricing approval matrix, and Salesforce.This role needs to be filled by a candidate located in: Arizona, California, Colorado, Idaho, or Utah only.*
Major Responsibilities:
- Support Global Sales Team:
- Primarily assist the America and JAPAC business with potential expansion to manage global deals.
- Support members of the legal team in other regions and take on increasing responsibilities.
- Contract Management:
- Draft, review, negotiate, and advise business leaders on commercial contracts, including software and services agreements with customers, vendors, technology partners, consultants, and other service providers.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Collaborate with the CFO and other legal team members to support Sales, Operations, Customer Success, Marketing, People Success, and other internal stakeholders.
- Subject Matter Expertise:
- Provide thought leadership in legal specialties (e.g., data privacy, intellectual property), draft policies, train internal stakeholders, and stay informed about trends and innovations.
- Legal Support:
- Assist in matters related to litigation, investigation, debt collection, employment law, real estate, and other corporate issues.
- Supervise outside counsel when required.
- Team Management:
- Oversee and develop a small team of contract managers
Minimum Requirements:
Education and Licensing:
- Law Degree (J.D.) from a top-tier Law School.
- Licensed and in good standing with a state bar, and able to practice law in the United States
Experience:
- 8+ years plus of sophisticated legal work.
- Experience in drafting and negotiating commercial agreements, software licensing transactions, data privacy, or other areas of compliance.
- Experience at a top law firm and/or in-house corporate legal department.
- Preferred: Experience (prior to law school or otherwise) with marketing or advertising technology, software development, or other technical expertise.

- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while collaborating effectively with the Legal team.
- Strong presentation skills for senior management and sales teams.
