Job Description Summary:
GE Aerospace is an independent, publicly traded enterprise operating in a complex, global regulatory environment. We are seeking a Senior Counsel to join a team of litigation attorneys responsible for managing a broad and dynamic portfolio of disputes, including complex commercial litigation, product liability, corporate & securities litigation, and cross-border arbitration. This is an important role within GE Aerospace Legal & Compliance, offering significant visibility and regular interaction with senior executives across both Legal & Compliance and the business.

Job Description:
Roles and Responsibilities:​
  • Develop and execute litigation strategies across various business units and jurisdictions.
  • Manage active litigation in U.S. and international forums, including oversight and coordination of pleadings, discovery, motion practice, trials, appeals, and arbitration proceedings.
  • Advise senior leaders, business stakeholders and cross-functional teams on dispute resolution strategy, litigation risk, and legal exposure arising from key business initiatives.
  • Implement internal litigation reporting, legal holds, and e-discovery protocols.
  • Supervise outside counsel and support staff to ensure high-quality, cost-effective representation and sound case management.
  • Monitor and assess legal and regulatory developments impacting the company's litigation profile, with particular attention to Aerospace, defense, and high-risk jurisdictions.
  • Contribute to the development of corporate policies and governance initiatives related to litigation, document retention, dispute resolution, and regulatory issues.
  • Support and lead initiatives to use artificial intelligence and other technologies to enhance the efficiency, quality, and strategic capabilities of the legal team.
  • Travel up to 25%

Required Minimum Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctorate from accredited university
  • Minimum 7 years of professional experience in litigation
  • Member in good standing with the State Bar
  • Note: Military experience is equivalent to professional experience

Desired Characteristics:
  • Significant experience handling complex commercial disputes, including contract disputes, trade secrets / intellectual property, and class actions.
  • Demonstrated track record of managing high-stakes litigation and arbitration matters.
  • Prior experience in Aerospace, defense, or other heavily regulated industries is highly valued.
  • Sound professional judgment and ability to provide pragmatic, business-oriented counsel to senior attorneys and executives.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to work creatively and effectively in cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to navigate a large, complex organization and coordinate effectively with business leaders, finance, corporate affairs, and other internal stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, together with strong advocacy and negotiation skills.
