Job Overview:We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Counsel to join our legal team and conduct defense 50H Hearings. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in various areas of law, including negligence and actions versus correction and police officers as well as commit to conducting said hearings on 1 to 2 specific days each week. This role requires the successful candidate to review filed Notices of Claim, conduct a remote 50H Hearing and complete the report regarding the 50H Hearing as required by the City on the City's format.
Responsibilities:
- Commit to conduct 50H Hearings on 1 or 2 days each week
- Commit to not conducting 50H Hearings for plaintiffs
- Review and analyze filed Notice of Claim before conducting a 50H Hearing
- Conduct remote 50H Hearing
- Draft and revise report on City's computer system in compliance with the guidelines provided by the City
Qualifications:
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in New York State.
- Extensive experience in negligence
- Extensive experience in conducting depositions
- Experience in conducting 50H Hearings a plus.
